Structuring work around teams has become a fact of organizational life. A key challenge for any leader is to effectively create, develop, and manage their teams. The purpose of this course is to provide the opportunity for students to get hands-on experience in all aspects of forming and managing a team, from assessing potential subordinates, to recruiting and selecting a team, to training and developing their capabilities, to leading and providing feedback to them about their performance over the semester. This will be accomplished by having graduate students actually put together their own team (composed of undergraduate management students) and then lead them through a series of tasks using a high fidelity, networked command and control computer simulation in the Team Effectiveness Teaching Laboratory.
